Accepting a Rehab Manager position of a 360+ bed SNF at 23 years old is not something I would now recommend to a new graduate, but this was the jolt that started my journey and commitment to the geriatric population and long-term care setting. In the trenches way before PPS existed, navigating the very first “MDS,” reading paper Medicare Manuals, welcoming PPS and RUGs and the non-stop changes, only to see them go 20 years later, to welcome PDPM…. But it’s not just the years…My focus has always been on having the most updated information and “doing the right thing with it,” and these years of practice have allowed me to put the information together for other therapy professionals interested in the same.
